Soon after, Via del Corso, we will take you to the Trevi Fountain, by Nicola Salvi. The artist was responsible for building the fountain in the 18th century after winning a competition organized by Pope Clement XII. Then, your driver will accompany you to Piazza Spagna, where you can admire the famous Spanish Steps and Pietro Bernini’s La Barcaccia Fountain, continuing to Piazza del Popolo and its obelisk.
The tour will end at 15:30 / 16:00, when we will return to the Civitavecchia Port. You will be ready to board and continue your cruise around 5pm.

The first place to visit will be the most imposing of Rome’s monuments: the Colosseum. This, without a doubt, is the most important monument in the Italian capital.
In 2007 it was informally elected one of the seven wonders of the modern world. And it’s not?!
Sumptuous, its construction began in 72 AD and was completed in 80 AD, making it the largest amphitheater ever built. The Coliseum could hold an audience of between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators, with an average audience of approximately 65,000 people.
The building was used for gladiatorial combats and public spectacles, such as simulated sea battles, wild animal hunts, executions, reenactments of famous battles and dramas based on classical mythology. Walking through the Roman Forum is transporting yourself to the heart of the Roman Empire.

After these visits through the centuries, it is worth walking back to the Colosseum, continuing for another 1.5 km (about 20 minutes) to Piazza Venezia.
Piazza Venezia is a large square, dominated by the enormous monument to Vittorio Emanuele II (“Il Vittoriano”, a tribute to the first king of Unified Italy).
From there, we continue for another 800 meters until we reach the Panthéon.

The imposing Pantheon, built between 27 and 14 BC, is one of the best preserved monuments of Ancient Rome. A temple dedicated to all the gods, it remained in use throughout its history. It is currently dedicated to Santa Maria dei Martiri.
The architecture of the Pantheon is impressive: there are 16 Corinthian columns that support its entrance. Its interior houses a domed dome filled with quadrangular-shaped alveoli. At the top there is a circular opening 9 meters in diameter that allows light to enter the enclosure.
Among other important figures, here are the graves of painters Rafael and Annibale Carraci, as well as monarchs Vitor Emanuel II and Humberto I.

After this very busy morning, we suggest that the early afternoon begins with a trip to Piazza Navona: it will be around 500 meters of walking to get there.
Along the way, of course, you will observe details of the Italian capital, such as the bustle of its streets, flowers in the windows, restaurants, bakeries, among others.
Navona is home to three beautiful fountains (Fountain of the Four Rivers, del Moro and Fountain of Neptune) and is very lively, full of cafes, restaurants and street artists.
It actually began to be characterized as a square in the last years of the 15th century, when the city’s market was transferred there from the Capitol. Piazza Navona is less than a 15-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, our next stop and obviously couldn’t be missing from our 1-day itinerary in Rome.

The wonderful Trevi Fountain is included in that list of open-air monuments that transform Rome into a true open-air museum. It is also one of the city’s icons, a place full of tourists who love to watch the fountain and make wishes by throwing a coin into its waters.
After this delightful visit, we tried to fit in a quick visit to the Vatican: of course, you won’t be able to visit the Museum or enter the Sistine Chapel, but the visit to St. Peter’s Square will be very enjoyable!
To get there, you will need to walk a little further: it will take around 10 minutes (800 meters) to reach the Spagna metro station – it is worth remembering that Piazza di Spagna is also here, with its famous stairs.
The Vatican is the seat of the Catholic Church and the official residence of the Pope. We took the opportunity to walk around here, visit Praça de and see St. Peter’s Basilica.
