Located on top of a hill 520 meters high, the abbey of Montecassino attracts all eyes from the town of Cassino. Do you want to know the history of this monastery?

As we tour its cloisters, we’ll learn about the origin of the monument. We’ll travel back in time to the 6th century, when San Benito de Nursia established the first monastery of the Benedictine order here.

Did you know that it was damaged after an Allied bombing during World War II? Most of the buildings had to be rebuilt after this attack, which was intended to weaken the German troops who had taken refuge in Italy.
