For over a century, this villa houses the Museum Correale, with his large collection of precious Roman and Greek artifacts, art pottery, paintings by great artists (such as Peter Paul Rubens, Abel Grimmer, by Giovan Battista) and works by Torquato Tasso (born March 11, 1544, Sorrento).
The last descendants of the Correale family, Alfredo and Pompeo, counts of Terranova, gave the villa and their gardens, with its scenic beauty and panoramic terraces the people who live in Sorrento, providing a perfect showcase of this magnificent collection.

The Museo della Tarsia Lignea
Situated in the historic centre, the Museo della tarsia lignea in a patrician palace of the 18th century. In the halls, frescoed vaults and roof covered with hand painted wallpaper, a rich collection of wooden furniture and objects made by local masters of marquetry of the 19th century, all works of art on display. Basilica of Saint Antonino
From Piazza Tasso, we arrive at the Basilica of Saint Antonino, set in the square that carries the same name.
The Basilica was erected in the 11th century in the place where an antique oratory on the 9th century.
Here was where he found refuge during the Longobard invasion. In the basilica are the remains of St. Anthonino, the patron saint of the city.
In the lobby, which precedes the Church, there are preserved two cetacean ribs posted as memento of the most famous miracle attributed to the patron Saint of Sorrento.
Legend has it that a whale had swallowed a child and that the Saint liberated the young boy drawing him safe and sound from the mouth of the whale.
The basilica rich with elements of spoil, like the column shafts coming, most probably, from the numerous roman country homes. On the right side of the church, we can admire a gate of the 11th century with an architrave supported by corinthian of the roman era. On the inside guarded are valuable paintings of Giovanni Bernardo Lama and the representation of the siege of Sorrento in 1648, a splendid painting by Giacomo Del Po in 1687.
Sorrento Holidays – Cathedral
The Cathedral of Saints Philip and James is in the center of Sorrento. Built on the ruins of an ancient greek temple, it is baroque and gothic revival.
Marina Grande
It is the ancient fishing village of Sorrento and yet still retains its charm. There is a small beach where you can relax a little. Also there are many restaurants where to taste the culinary specialties of the place.
Public Garden
Villa Comunale is the largest public garden in Sorrento and is laid out with flower beds and shaded by trees.
There are busts of historian Bartolomeo Capasso and Sorrento-born magistrate and lawyer Francesco Saverio Gargiulo in the gardens and benches are provided so that you can sit and relax while you enjoy the view.
There is a beach directly below and during the day you will see the tiny figures of swimmers in the sea. You can walk down to either Marina Piccola or Marina Grande from here or stop for refreshments at the bar to the right of the gardens from where you can continue to enjoy the view.
Its distinctive feature is being literally overlooking the sea. From here you can take in the entire Bay of Naples.
