Positano Hotels. In southern Italy, more specifically in Campania, a narrow coastline carved almost entirely into a precipice brings the Amalfi Coast to life. The 60 km stretch is between the municipalities (or communes, as it is called in Italy) of Sorrento and Salerno, being contemplated with historic cities during the trip, such as Amalfi, which is on the Tyrrhenian Sea, Ravello, in the highest point of the mountains and Positano, a village that slides down the slope to the beach.
On the Amalfi Coast, dozens of luxury hotels offer impeccable service and unforgettable views. The vast majority have a family tradition, being passed on between generations, and therefore they have the warmth of the family mixed with the professionalism of the stay. To get to know you better, we have separated 5 hotels for you.
Don’t be under any illusions: there are no cheap hotels in Positano. In fact, accommodation is really expensive!
That said, the welcoming Casa Guadagno, the Hotel Savoia (three stars) and the Hotel Marincanto (four stars) are among the best hotel options for value for money. They cannot be considered cheap, but for Positano standards, they are very reasonably priced. For example, you can find double rooms in Maricanto for €160. Book in advance.
Built in the 11th century, the luxurious Belmond was originally a palace. Today, it is perhaps the most romantic hotel on the entire Amalfi Coast. Its facilities have traditional Italian charm, with restaurants and bars, spa, fitness room and infinity pool — listed among the best in the world in the “hotel” category. Outside Belmond, a boat tour service makes the stay even more unforgettable.
For those looking to save money on accommodation, Positano is not the best place to stay on the Amalfi Coast. Still, consider staying a couple of nights at La Mammola. You won’t find much cheaper! In a more charming and more intimate segment, the bed & breakfast Villa Yiara and the boutique hotel Villa Magia are absolutely extraordinary accommodations.
Or Il San Pietro di Positano, a bit far from the center of Positano but which, on the other hand, has a private beach and a Michelin-starred restaurant. Frequented by stars like George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Shy, Il San Pietro is “sculpted” in a corner of the cliff, going unnoticed by the eyes of those who are inattentive. But when you come across the hotel, the surprise: luxury and sophistication fill every square meter. Even with all its majesty, the place still stands out for the family values that run it, so the 5-star service always comes with a smile. Finally, the rooms and suites descend the cliff with flower-filled terraces. In addition to the gardens, facilities also include a private beach, a tennis court and a spa.
Finally, if it’s extreme luxury you’re looking for – and you’re willing to pay for it! Le Sirenuse may well be the right choice. Of all the hotels in Positano, Le Sirenuse is the most attractive. Filled with lovely things, it’s a cross between a museum and the home of some noble family — and it’s true. The Sersale family’s summer home became a hotel after World War II and is currently managed by Antonio Sersale. Over the years, it has expanded to include a network of public and private terraces, a beautiful swimming pool and a top-notch restaurant, as well as great heavenly rooms.
