Medieval fortresses, hills, ancient cities, beautiful villages, isolated houses, cypress trees, fabulous vineyards and olive groves, fields of wheat and the color of gold are just some of the elements that make up the fantastic and harmonious landscapes of the Val d’orcia! Crossed by the Orcia River, from which the valley takes its name, which lies between the provinces of Siena and Grosseto. The entire area is now a protected park, and has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2004. The main protagonist of the Val d’Orcia is, in fact, untouched and beautiful nature, with ever-changing colors depending on the various seasons.
We start our tour with a visit to Montalcino, the city of Brunello, with its fortress. We will cross the Val d’Orcia with the typical Tuscan landscapes you see on postcards until we reach Pienza, a city planned by Pope Pius II, a UNESCO heritage city. Then we will go to Montepulciano, which is also known for its wine production, the award-winning Vino Nobile, you can discover the cellars of this splendid medieval city. And of course, an obligatory stop to see and photograph the wonderful Vitaletta Chapel.
