Private Trip from Civitavecchia Port in a spacious and elegant vehicle for up to eight passengers

Rome Air-Port Shuttle will take you to the most historic city in the world, our tours are tailor-made for every travel need with our private tour, you can choose the specific place you don’t want to miss in Rome!

Our job is to understand what you want to see and pass by or stop at a specific location to offer you the best suggestive and knowledgeable tour of the Eternal City.

Your reserved driver will pick you up next to your cruise ship at 7am or 8am. After about 1.5 hours (depending on traffic) you will arrive at your first stop, St. Peter’s Square rebuilt and redesigned thanks to Gian Lorenzo Bernini between 1656 and 1667.

Saint Peter’s Square

You will enter the Vatican through the famous St. Peter’s Square (Piazza San Pietro in Italian). Every year, millions of pilgrims and tourists come to see this square!

St. Peter’s Square was designed with the following principle in mind: they wanted to allow as many people as possible to see the Pope give his blessing from the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica.

Two colonnades surround the square, made up of almost 280 columns and 145 statues of saints. In the center of St. Peter’s Square, there is an Egyptian obelisk, surrounded by 2 large fountains. The long queues to visit the basilica leave from this square.

Pantheon

You can continue your visit to the second stop, the Pantheon.

The Pantheon is the best preserved ancient building in Rome and another must-see tourist attraction to add to this list! Originally dedicated to all the deities of mythology, it became a Christian church in the 7th century.

Inside, admire the immense dome and the oculus (the opening in the dome), giving the place unique lighting. In the Pantheon you can also see the tombs of Raphael (the famous artist) and Victor Emmanuel II (first king of Italy, in the beautiful building dedicated to him in Piazza Venezia)

Piazza Navona

We will continue our tour through Piazza Navona, built on the ancient stadium of Diocletian that was used for athletic competitions. Today you can admire the Fountain of the Four Rivers, the Fountain of Neptune and the Church of Saint Agnes in Agony in Navona square.

Colosseum

The stop you can’t miss is the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre), you will travel along the Fori Imperiali to Piazza Venezia where you can admire the Vittoriano and the balcony from which Benito Mussolini declared the Second World War against France and Great Britain.

The Colosseum and its murderous games
One of the must-see attractions is the Coliseum, located in the Historic Center (“Centro Storico” in Italian). It is the most emblematic monument to visit in Rome! With a capacity of more than 50,000 spectators, it is the largest amphitheater in the Roman world. Much blood was spilled in these arenas, where famous gladiator fights, animal fights and Roman games were held, always followed by horrific deaths.

The visit is not free and you will probably have to wait for a few hours before getting there if you are going in high season.

Roman Forum

Ticket purchased at the Colosseum also includes access to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (I’ll talk about that below), so it would be a shame to miss them, as the three tourist attractions are interconnected. The forum was the center of the city and you can see ruins of ancient markets, administrative and religious buildings. However, you won’t find any explanations on the website, so if you’re interested in history you should really opt for a guided tour.

Palatine Hill

This is the third point of interest included in the Colosseum ticket.

The Palatine Hill, one of the 7 hills of Rome, is according to mythology, the place where the city was founded by Romulus and Remus. As you may know, they are the two twins who were reportedly found and nursed by a wolf in a cave. At the top of Palatine Hill, you will have access to this cave and the ruins of the residences of historical figures such as Augustus, the first Roman emperor.

Trevi Fountain

Soon after, Via del Corso, we will take you to the Trevi Fountain, by Nicola Salvi. The artist was responsible for building the fountain in the 18th century after winning a competition organized by Pope Clement XII.

Also close to the Pantheon, you will find Europe’s most famous fountain: The Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi in Italian). A must see for anyone visiting Rome.

Because of the legend surrounding it, this fountain is also known for hosting a large number of marriage proposals! Legend has it that, to save her virginity, a young woman had to reveal the location of the fountain to the Romans.

In the basin there are numerous statues representing an allegory of the sea, with Neptune in his chariot in the center. Tradition says you must toss two coins: one to make a wish and one to return to Rome.

Behind the fountain, a large baroque palace contributes greatly to the charm of the place. Just one thing: the place is always crowded, so you’ll have a lot of trouble getting a perfect photo of the fountain without unwanted heads! However, the Trevi Fountain is an important point of interest in Rome.

Spanish Steps

Then, your driver will accompany you to Piazza Spagna, where you can admire the famous Spanish Steps and Pietro Bernini’s La Barcaccia Fountain, continuing to Piazza del Popolo and its obelisk.

The tour will end at 15:30 / 16:00, when we will return to the Port of Civitavecchia. You will be ready to board and continue your cruise around 5pm.
