PISA
Our first stop will be when we arrive in Pisa, of unknown origin, the legend says that some founders of Greek origin, coming from a city called Pisa that was on the banks of the river Alpheus in the Peloponnese who would have founded another city with the same name as the original in Italy.
Among the most important monuments of the city is the famous Piazza dei Miracoli declared a World Heritage Site, the Cathedral, built in marble between 1064 and 1118, in the Pisano Romanesque style, with its bronze portal from Bonnano Pisano. The Baptistery dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, which began construction in 1152 and was completed in 1363, was the second building on the square to be erected after the cathedral and before the famous and impressive Leaning Tower of the 12th century, with a height of 58, 36 meters, which suffered its characteristic inclination shortly after the beginning of its construction.
The visit to Pisa will be done on your own, when arriving at Square of Miracles the driver will give you the instructions and the maximum duration of the visit. When finished, we’ll get back in the car to head towards Florence.
We will discover the city of the Medici family, thanks to a stop at Santa Maria Novella Square, located a few steps from the main train station in Florence, one of the main squares of the city.
FLORENCE
From there we go to the magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, one of the masterpieces of Gothic and the first Italian Renaissance. Symbol of the wealth and power of the Tuscan capital during the 13th and 14th centuries, the Florentine Cathedral is one of the greatest buildings in Christendom.
Its name refers to the lily, symbol of Florence, or to the ancient name of the city called Fiorenza, although others understand that the flower refers to Christ, with its imposing dome by Brunelleschi and to which must be added Giotto’s Campanile (visit from the outside), 84.70 m high, and the Baptistery of San Juan (outside), with its famous bronze doors. The ensemble, made up of the church, the bell tower and the baptistery, constitutes one of the artistic and architectural jewels of Florence.
Soon after, we will continue with our tour through several streets from Republic Square to Piazza della Signoria, to see the ancient palace (Palazzo Vecchio), built between 1299 and 1314 for the residence and work of republic officials, known for an ornate courtyard, and its artistic treasures. We will see the Loggia of the Lanzi, an open-air museum that showcases masterpieces in sculpture.

Right away, we will also see the Ponte Vecchio, the only bridge in Florence that was not destroyed during the 2nd World War, and we will arrive at Santa Croce Square to admire its wonderful church (exterior visit), burial place of important figures such as Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo Galilei. The Santa Croce Square, in addition to being a popular spot for street artists, is the place chosen to develop various activities throughout the year. Something that characterizes its church are the almost 300 tombs, in their tombstones that you can see from different dates between the 14th and 19th centuries.
We will have free time for lunch (not included in the tour price), sightseeing on our own or shopping. Afterwards, we will pass Piazzale Michelangelo, the best view of Florence, to contemplate the city in all its splendor.
