Visiting best Pompeii tours from Rome with private driver

Hiring our private chauffeur service with a car or minivan can sometimes be more convenient as you won’t have the stress of making connections between places.

Rome travel requires good car services, not only to travel safely but also to make sure you are always on time with modern vehicles equipped with air-conditioning systems. Book with Rome Air-Port Shuttle a private car to pick you up from your accommodation in Rome at a scheduled time and we head straight to the Ruins of Ancient Pompeii, a UNESCO Heritage Site.

During the trip, being able to make stops, whether planned or unexpected, during a journey is the biggest advantage of traveling with our car service with a driver, you decide when to stop and how long, and the driver will be waiting for you. Furthermore, the driver speaks English and during the 3 hour journey from Rome can introduce you to Pompeii and other interesting tours in the region.

Once in Pompeii, the driver will drop you off at the main entrance of the Pompeii ruins (there are three entrances to the ruins), you will have enough time for a great visit to the ancient city, and at the end of your tour return in Rome.

The city has a historic site that tourists love to explore at all times of the year, as Pompeii is huge and widespread and has a rich history, so an official Pompeii guide is recommended. Your private English-speaking tour guide will guide you around the site and explain all the places you will find, only with a guide will you know why the ruins receive so much praise. A 2-hour visit for €120.

A must-visit in the ruins of Pompeii:

Villa Dei Misteri

Villa Dei Misteri is a must-see during your visit to the ruins of Pompeii. This ancient villa with a history of fine arts has much to offer in terms of history. Villa dei Misteri remains standing after the eruption of 79 AD. It holds a lot of mystery after having an extensive area buried by ash after the eruption. It is believed to have been the home of a specific cult. The Villa has large and spacious rooms and a wine press, the paintings are a sight to behold if you are an art enthusiast. The villa is decorated with the most beautiful frescoes that have been the subject of debate over time.

Best Pompeii Tours

Lupanare

One of the local brothels, with kama-sutra frescoes. I found the beds to be surprisingly small and inconveniently placed against the walls. Minors cannot enter the house and as it is very small there are queues at the door. Again, I insist on a visit to the Naples Museum, where the Secret Cabinet keeps erotic mosaics and sculptures from Pompeii.

Macellum

An example of a roof remade to protect frescoes, here on the walls of a kind of oratory. In the center of the land, the circular columns indicate that fish were sold or cleaned there. Building built between 130-120 BC, excavated between 1818-1821 and 1888.
Casa del Poeta Tragico – imagine that in the 1st century the expression ‘Beware, angry dog’ was already used. You can read Cave Canem on the floor mosaic in the atrium of this house.

Casa del Fauno

You can’t help but be disappointed by the size of the sculpture of a faun (or pan) that gives its name to this house where the Alexander Mosaic also stands, which illustrates the battle that put an end to the Persian empire. Both works are replicas whose originals are in the Naples Archaeological Museum.

Casa del Menandro

This was the first house we visited, a great start that is impressive. He belonged to the rich and powerful family related to Nero’s second wife. It takes its name from the painting depicting Menander, a writer of plays from Athens. The house was excavated in 1928-1932.

Amphitheater

The oldest in the Roman Empire, built in 70 BC, it had capacity for 20 thousand spectators. Excavations took place in 1748, 1814-1814.
