The arena that was built during the Roman Empire to accommodate over 50,000 people featured fights between gladiators, exotic animals and prisoner executions. To inaugurate the then Flavian Amphitheater, the Colosseum’s original name, Emperor Tito held 100 days of games, when over 2000,000 gladiators died in the performances.

Active from 80 AD until the 6th century, the Colosseum was part of Roman life for over 500 years. After this period, it was used as a church, cemetery and also as a castle for the nobility. Declared in 2007 as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, the monument attracts 6 million visitors per year, making it Rome’s biggest attraction alongside the Vatican.

Arch of Constantine commissioned by the Roman Senate to commemorate the ten years of the reign of Constantine I the Great and the emperor’s victory over his predecessor Maxentius at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312.

The Arch of Constantine was built with the reuse of large sculptures. taken from other imperial monuments such as the Trajan Forum. It was the last and largest of the triumphal arches made in Rome and is located between the Colosseum and Palatine Hill.

The Roman Forum was the main commercial center of Imperial Rome. Popularly called the Magno Forum, it was for centuries the centerpiece of Roman public life. Place of triumphal ceremonies and elections, public speeches, gladiatorial clashes and criminal proceedings were held there. Temples, triumphal arches, the Via Sacra, the Curia, and the Basilica of Magencius and Constantine are some of the important attractions of the Roman Forum region, once considered the most well-known meeting place in the world in history.

Palatine Palatine is the most central and one of the oldest mounds in Rome, located 40 meters above the Roman Forum. Considered the cradle of the city, it is estimated that in the year 1000 BC was already inhabited. In the early Roman Empire, luxurious palaces were built on the Palatine.
