Florence is a destination that will not disappoint anyone looking for things to see near Rome! The city is charming!

It is true that, within our list of cities close to Rome, Florence is one of the most distant destinations. But don’t let that put you off!

It is possible to take a day trip from Rome, especially if you opt for our private transport service, which takes less than two hours on this journey.

Florence is already in the region of Tuscany, and is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, with so many attractions that I could easily recommend a two or three-day itinerary in the city. it’s is not difficult to visit Florence! The town iis a very small, but the places to visit many things to discover.  The most well-known monument of Florence is Brunelleschi’s dome, the largest masonry dome ever built in Santa Maria del Fiore.

The Campanile designed by Giotto and the Baptistery.  The dome, 600 years after its completion, is still the largest dome built in brick and mortar in the world.

In 1982, the historic centre of Florence was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.

The centre historic is inside in medieval walls that were built in the 14th century for defense. At the heart of the city, in the Piazza della Signoria, Uffizi a site important, the centre of Florence’s civil life and government for centuries. The Bartolomeo Ammannati’s fountain of Neptune (1563–1565), which is a masterpiece of marble sculpture at the terminus of a still functioning roman aqueduc.

Despite the strong presence of Renaissance architecture within the city, traces of medieval, Baroque, Neoclassical and modern architecture can be found.

The Palazzo Vecchio as well as the Duomo, or the city’s Cathedral, are the two buildings which dominate Florence’s skyline, while others churches full with some of the finest art in the world.

San Miniato al Monte, San Lorenzo, Santa Maria Novella, Santa Trinita, the Brancacci Chapel at Santa Maria della Carmine, Santa Croce, Santo Spirito, SS Annunziata, Ognissanti, and more.

Then there are the art galleries, the Uffizi and the Pitti Palace are two of the most famous picture galleries in the world.

The two superb collections of sculpture, the Bargello and the Museum of the Works of the Duomo.

The brilliant creations of Donatello, Verrochio, Desiderio da Settignano, Michelangelo, and so many other masterpieces that create a body of work unique in the world.

And, of course, there is the Accademia, with Michelangelo’s David, perhaps the most well-known work of art, plus the superb 4 Slaves or Prisoners Michelangelo worked on for the tomb of Pope Julius II, dated 1505

For good luck,  rub the boar’s snout the legendary “il Porcellino” to ensure a return to Florence. Visit Piazza della Repubblica, once was marks the site of Ancient Forum, now a popular meeting place for famous writers, artists and locals. Gaze at the Baptistry Doors by Ghiberti, coined the “Gates of Paradise” by Michelangelo.

Gazes at the Baptistery doors, is set of bronze doors by Bartoluccio Ghiberti. The original plan was for the doors to depict scenes from the Old Testament, but the plan was changed to depict scenes from the New Testament instead. Dubbed “The Gates of Paradise” by Michelangelo, this set remains a major monument of the age of Renaissance humanism.

In all, Florence has something over 80 museums. Among those at the top of most lists are the City hall, the Palazzo della Signoria (aka Palazzo Vecchio), a wonderful building with magnificent rooms and some great art.  The Archeological Museums, of History of Science, of the Stibbert, of the Works of Santa Croce, of the Cloister of Santa Maria Novella, the Zoological (“La Specola”), the Bardini, and the Horne.

The Palazzo Davanzatti, St. Marks, the Medici Chapels. There is also a wonderful collection of works by the modern sculptor, Marino Marini, in a museum named after him. The magnificent Strozzi Palace is the site of many special exhibits.
