In 1982, the historic centre of Florence was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.

The centre historic is inside in medieval walls that were built in the 14th century for defense. The Bartolomeo Ammannati’s fountain of Neptune (1563–1565), which is a masterpiece of marble sculpture at the terminus of a still functioning roman aqueduc.

Gazes at the Baptistery doors, is set of bronze doors by Bartoluccio Ghiberti. The original plan was for the doors to depict scenes from the Old Testament, but the plan was changed to depict scenes from the New Testament instead. Dubbed “The Gates of Paradise” by Michelangelo, this set remains a major monument of the age of Renaissance humanism.

In all, Florence has something over 80 museums. Its splendid square, its Renaissance buildings rich in history and art, the alleys and romantic panoramic views that overlook the Val d’Orcia make it unique. And then the famous Pecorino di Pienza to taste and many other surprises to be discovered …

The Chapel of the Madonna di Vitaleta

You have certainly seen the chapel of vitality in a postcard and in Val d’Orcia you have the opportunity to literally enter a postcard. This small church with its cypresses is one of the symbolic places of the Val d’Orcia. A magical place where you can breathe quiet and serenity. It is located between Pienza and San Quirico d’Orcia along the provincial road 146 of Chianciano but to reach it you will have to walk a little.

San Quirico d’Orcia

San Quirico d’Orcia is a village with very ancient origins, it probably dates back to the Etruscan era. To visit the remains of the Torre del Casseri and the Horti Leonini, a splendid sixteenth -century garden from which you access the main square of the village. But also the Collegiate, the Pieve and the Splendid Rocche.

Bagno Vignoni

Bagno Vignoni is one of the most suggestive and romantic villages in the whole Val d’Orcia. Famous since the Roman era for its thermal waters: popes, kings and knights stopped here to enjoy its waters. Visiting Bagno Vignoni means taking a dip in the past, its central square is entirely occupied by a large spa, ideal for a romantic dinner.

Tuscany cypresses

Here is another icon of the Val d’Orcia. If you pass along the Via Cassia between San Quirico d’Orcia and Torrenieri you will not resist the temptation to stop to photograph the characteristic group of cypresses on a hill that dominates the road. Montalcino and Sant’Antimo

When we talk about Montalcino we immediately think of the Brunello who made this village famous all over the world. But Montalcino is also a city full of art and history. A beautiful medieval village from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view. To visit the fortress, Piazza del Popolo, churches and museums but above all not to be missed the abbey of Sant’Antimo a few kilometers from the village.

Oak of the checks
