On our private day trips along the Amalfi Coast, fall under the spell of the enchanting coastline, where one of the most beautiful coastlines in Italy offers incredible views along its course.

We will stroll through the narrow alleys of Positano, which enjoys an unrivaled position along the Amalfi Coast as it is the most popular stop on our day trips from Rome to the Amalfi Coast. Where beautiful white and pastel houses are scattered along the hillside. Along with the beautiful beaches, its old fishing port, the splendid majolica dome of the church of Santa Maria Assunta and handicraft shops, you will taste the typical Italian atmosphere, and you will be able to enjoy the “dolce vita” enjoying a good ice cream in one of the great ice cream parlors or enjoying a delicious lunch at the restaurants and wine bars.

Your private driver will pick you up at your Rome accommodation

Positano is located on the luxurious Amalfi Coast and is popular with couples looking for a romantic getaway and families on day tours. But it was not always so. Positano was a cold and rather dull town, a fishing village and port on the Amalfi Coast that went bankrupt and most of its inhabitants left for America.

Things only changed after a reporter for Harper’s Bazaar magazine wrote an article in May 1953 extolling the beauty of the place as unique. It didn’t take long for the status of a port to become a dream and luxury destination, serving as a location for several films.

STROLL THROUGH THE STREETS OF THE CITY

We start our tour with a tip for those who want to know more about Positano, and explore every little place in the city, is to take a walking tour of the city. As it has totally narrow alleys full of souvenir shops and sundries, most tourists simply enjoy the city in the midst of the best Italian climate.

Taste amazing lemon treats: citrus salads, lemon cakes, lemonade and cookies, as you sit under the cool shade of the lemon trees. Then she discovers in the Museum of Arts of Rural Culture and Handicrafts a small collection of historical pieces and documents that describe a glorious past of Amalfi, the former Maritime Republic.

End your day with a tasting of the famous elixir called “limoncello”! Lemons that were brought to the Amalfi Coast from the Middle East many centuries ago gave rise to this ‘neon-yellow’ nectar, whose rich taste has gained popularity in Italy and around the world. This will be a perfect ending to your tasty experience!

SANTA MARIA ASSUNTA CHURCH

Visit the unmissable Santa Maria Assunta church. Despite not being very large, and at first giving an air of simplicity, it is very beautiful and reserves a totally unique charm. Visitors who go there are usually dazzled by the Byzantine details of the place and the wonderful altar set in the center of the church. In Santa Maria Assunta you will also come across an extraordinary dome, which can be seen from almost every point of the city and dazzled amidst its magnificent architecture.

PALAZZO MURAT

The next unmissable stop for you to visit in Positano is the Palazzo Murat restaurant. Considered the ideal place for those who want to combine sophistication with good food, it has attracted a large part of the public that goes to the city, becoming a tradition in Positano. The menu of the house, in addition to magnificent, is quite diverse. As it is located in a beautiful garden in the city, the view that you have of the region is one of the most breathtaking, so if you have the opportunity, be sure to have a super special meal there in the midst of the best Italian climate.

THE TRAIL OF THE GODS

The most popular trail on the Amalfi Coast is the Sentiero degli Dei, or Trail of the Gods, it does not unite beaches, but has its entire layout on top of the mountains overlooking white dots in the blue sea and the entire relief of the Amalfi Coast. It starts in Agerola and continues to Nocelle. It takes about 3 hours to beat the 8 km and is considered easy, but avoid if you suffer from vertigo!

Agerola is famous for its fior di latte mozzarella and those who are going to do the trail can go to a salumeria and buy a fior di latte focaccia to make a picnic of the gods! If you want to add prociutto, parma ham, you can ask for that too.

BEACHES

Well, the main beach in Positano, Marina Grande: dark sand, lots of people and lots of boats, it’s not the kind of beach. And the neighboring beach Fornillo is not much different either, just calmer because there are no boats.

Another different beach worth investing in is Fiordo di Furore beach, which is located between Positano and Amalfi. It is one of the most photographed places on the Amalfi Coast and truly a beauty:

If you want to hide from the sun, it’s a good choice, since due to the walls the beach only gets the sun between 1pm and 2pm.
